Yahoo billed me for another month of their service. That sucks. So far their service hasn't done crap for me, and they are already billing me for another month. I should have cancelled it. I guess I'll have to send out some more messages to get my $20 worth.

Saturday, August 30, 2003

I figured that Saturday afternoon would be a good time to call Michelle, but she wasn't home and I left a message.

I also called Jennifer and she wasn't home either, but I left a message explaining that Tuesday wouldn't work.

Maybe because it's Labor Day weekend, everyone else has something to do except for me.

Friday, August 29, 2003

I got Michelle's phone number! Yeah! But I can't call her now because it's a Friday night, and she'll think I'm a real loser if I call her on a Friday night.

Maybe I should try sending out more messages because I don't know if my relationships with Jennifer or Michelle are going anywhere.

Thursday, August 28, 2003

Well it's Thursday evening, when I was supposed to meet Jennifer for coffee today. But that didn't quite happen. As I was leaving work, ready to go meet Jennifer, I noticed a message on my cell phone. I listened to the message, and it was Jennifer. She said she didn't want to meet me because it was supposed to rain tonight and she didn't want to drive in the rain. I looked around. It was a little cloudy, yes, but it wasn't raining. This sounded pretty bogus.

So I called her, and blah blah blah, well we postponed the meeting until next Tuesday. Then twenty minutes later I remembered that I had to be somewhere else on Tuesday. Darn. I guess I'll call her later to cancel for Tuesday, but I don't feel like doing it right now.

Geez, it's 7:30 and it's not raining yet.

Tuesday, August 26, 2003

Well I have a lot to write today. I received Jennifer's phone number while I was at work (yes I check my personal Email while I'm at work, as well as do other non-work stuff), and she said I could call her after 8. So at about 8:15 I called her (not at 8 exactly, I didn't want to look too eager).

She seems OK. She's 26 years old, she lives a half hour or so away from me, but I guess it would be worth the trip. She has a kind of deep voice, not very sexy or very attractive. But I guess beggers can't be choosers. It's too bad I never saw her picture, but I have my fingers crossed that she will look OK in person. If I ever meet her in person.

I asked her if she would like to meet for coffee, and we agreed to meet on Thursday. Wow, my first real internet date in only two days from now. This is very exciting.

Meanwhile, I'm still exchanging Emails with Michelle, I guess I should ask her for her phone number too.

Monday, August 25, 2003

All those messages I sent out to a bunch of girls, and it looks like only Jennifer and Michelle wrote back to me. I asked Jennifer for her phone number, because I feel that I reached that stage in our Email relationship. I hope I'm not moving too fast. I don't know how many Email you're supposed to exchange before moving on to the telephone.

Sunday, August 24, 2003

I didn't get any Emails back from either Jennifer or Michelle yet. I don't know what their problem is. It's Sunday, can't they log onto their computer to read their Emails?

Saturday, August 23, 2003

Some girl named Michelle wrote back to me also. Michelle has a photo, but it's kind of blurry and all I can see is her face, but I guess that's better than nothing. I sent Emails back to Michelle and Jennifer saying stuff like where I live and what I do for work and boring stuff like that. I'd like to ask them to send me some naked pictures, but that would probably be a bad idea cause then I wouldn't seem sensitive.

Friday, August 22, 2003

Good news!!! Some girl name Jennifer wrote back to me. This is what she said: "You sound like a terrific person. If you are available, I'd love to meet for a drink or coffee or whatever appeals to you. Jennifer."

This is way cool that someone thinks I'm a terrific person, and she want's to meet meet me for coffee too! Wow!

Too bad she didn't post a photo. I will have to write her back and see if she has a photo.

Thursday, August 21, 2003

I sent out 15 messages to Yahoo girls tonight. I know I said I'd do 20, but I got bored after 15. Let's hope that one of these girls writes back.

Wednesday, August 20, 2003

The form letter:

Hi, I saw your profile on Yahoo Personals. I think you look really cute [only include if photo] and you sound like you have a great personality too.

My name is Quigley, and I'm 30 years old, 5'11" brown hair, hazel eyes. I work as a computer programmer, which is not as nerdy a job as you think. [It's actually real nerdy.]

I've never tried online dating before, but I decided to take the plunge. I hear a lot of people are doing it. [Being like everyone else isn't really that bad.]

I think I'd be a great guy for you to write back to. I'm sure we'd have a lot of fun together.

Quigley

That's my new form letter, and I'm going to stick with it! Now I have to send it to a lot of girls. This time, twenty.

Monday, August 18, 2003

There are a lot of girls online with some really ugly photos. I think if they look so ugly they really shouldn't post a photo. Wait a minute. That's kind of scary. What if the girls without photos are even uglier?

I still haven't sent out any more messages to online girls. I'm not sure what to say.

Sunday, August 17, 2003

"I thought that online dating would be a good way to meet nice girls." That's kind of dorky. I have to change that part.

How about "I thought I'd give online dating a try because a lot of other people are doing it." Maybe not, that makes me sound like I'm just following the crowd.

Maybe this: "I thought I'd check out online dating, and I was pleasantly surpised to discover a nice girl like you to write to." That might be good. It kind of makes her sound special, like I'm not just sending the same form letter to everybody.

Saturday, August 16, 2003

How about this?

Dear x,

I saw your profile on Yahoo Personals. I think you look really cute.

My name is Quigley and I'm 30 years old, 5'11", brown hair, hazel eyes. I thought that online dating would be a good way to meet nice girls.

I think I'd be a great guy for you to write back to. I'm sure we'd have a lot of fun together.

Quigley

Hmmm... I'm not sure.

Friday, August 15, 2003

What I need to do is device some kind of form lettter that I can send to the girls so I don't have to compose a new letter each time. This would make the online dating a lot more efficient, and I'd be able to send messages to a lot more girls. But what should I say in the form letter?

Thursday, August 14, 2003

So far this online dating thing really sucks. I wasted time finding girls to write to and none of them write back. I sure wish I could talk to girls in bars, then I wouldn't need to put up with this online dating bullshit.

Tuesday, August 12, 2003

I kept checking the Yahoo Personals all day at work to see if any of the girls wrote, but so far they didn't. This is getting very frustrating. Why won't they write???

Monday, August 11, 2003

None of the girls wrote back yet. Bummer.

Sunday, August 10, 2003

Good news. I sent off five Emails to five 25 year old girls. Now I just have to wait for them to write back. Surely at least one of them will write back to me. Maybe I'll have a date by this weekend, and I won't have to stay home and play computer games all weekend again. (And btw, if you're looking for a really cool computer game, check out Age of Wonders Shadow Magic. Way cool.)

Saturday, August 09, 2003

This cute girl writes:

My friends call me a walking contradiction, because I do so many things that don't have any connection. But I think that's the fun in life. Do as many things as you can, to have as much fun and to learn as much as possible. I'm interested in anyone spontaneous and open to try out new things. Other than that, I love learning from others, so feel free to show me new things.

I don't have any clue what she's talking about. But she's 25 and she looks nice in her picture. Not super-model hot or anything like that, but nice. She's been divorced. Wow! I've never even had a girlfriend and she's already had a husband and divorced him. She's going to be one of the five lucky girls I write to.

Friday, August 08, 2003

I guess I made a few mistakes with this online dating gig. For some dumb reason I thought a hot 19 year old babe would be interested in me. Obviously that was a mistake.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'm ready to date girls my own age yet. I mean, I'm 30, and that's really old. Going out with a thirty year old would be almost like dating my mother. Yuck.

I think maybe a 25 year old might be interested.

Obviously the second mistake is that I found only one hot babe. You obviously need to use more of a shotgun approach to this online dating thing. Yahoo lets you contact as many girls as you want for your $20 per month investment, so I'm going to have to take advantage of that. My goal is to find five 25 year old girls to write to.

Wednesday, August 06, 2003

I don't think the hot babe is writing back. What a bitch.

Tuesday, August 05, 2003

The hot babe still didn't right back yet.

Sunday, August 03, 2003

The hot babe still didn't right back.

Saturday, August 02, 2003

The hot babe didn't write back to me yet. Maybe she didn't get a chance to long onto her computer today. I hope she writes back soon. I think I really like her.

Friday, August 01, 2003

I looked through the personal ads on Yahoo, and I found a really hot 19 year old babe who's tall and has blonde hair. She sounds as hot as the girls in the bars. I sent her the following Email:

Dear beautiful babe,

I saw your picture and profile here at Yahoo, and all I can say is, "wow!" I know I'm 30, and that might seem like a really big age difference, but because I'm young at heart, and we both like music, I'm sure that we'll get along just great.

Why don't you write back?

Quigley

Wow, this online dating is pretty good. I can't wait until she writes back.
